Restoring community connections after COVID

Check out that beautiful BOSS Lubricants Racing decal on the hood of Larry Majuery's No. 37 car, which competes in the Ontario Pro Challenge at Flamboro Speedway in Hamilton, ON. Lookin’ good, Larry!

BOSS Lubricants is back sponsoring sports, education, church initiatives

CALGARY, Canada (July 26, 2022)—A community offers strength, support, encouragement and a genuine sense of belonging.

Ultimately, a community makes life better for all of us.

In 30 years as Canada’s fastest-growing lubricant manufacturer and wholesaler, BOSS Lubricants has always kept community top-of-mind. Giving back to the businesses and communities that have supported us along the way remains a cornerstone of our operations.

And with the world emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic this year, we’ve again ramped up our support and sponsorship in the communities where we do business.

“We’re thrilled to be making these community connections again as life gets back to normal,” says BOSS President and CEO Jarrett Flegel, “because supporting communities is integral to our company DNA.”

Prepping Junior Roughnecks for battle

In Alberta, youth lacrosse has seen tremendous growth in recent years. Opportunities are growing for young athletes—often at a faster rate than some families can manage financially.

This summer, BOSS Lubricants is sponsoring the Junior Roughnecks program, organized by the National Lacrosse League’s Calgary Roughnecks. Three teams (under-12, U14 and U16) will travel to Oakville, ON in late August to compete in the eighth annual Junior National Lacrosse League Tournament.

A BOSS donation has covered the costs of apparel, helmets and gloves for the U12 Junior Roughnecks team.

“These will be modeled after the NLL uniforms, making this a truly amazing gift for the players,” notes Steve Harlow of the Junior Roughnecks.

Giving auto mechanics students a boost

The auto mechanics program at Calgary’s Bishop McNally High School got a boost this year from BOSS Lubricants.

BOSS donated lubricants, supplies and training materials to the program during the 2021-22 school year, allowing auto mechanics teacher Duncan Nasse to reallocate resources and update several pieces of equipment, including bigger-ticket items like a new TPMS tool and an OBDII diagnostic scan tool upgrade.

“Sometimes it can be difficult to provide a tangible representation of the good that comes from the support of community when it comes to education, but in this case I can easily say that your donation helped students directly,” says Duncan. “I can honestly say that the huge investment that you made here at Bishop McNally will be used by students for years to come.”

He adds: “Thanks again for all that BOSS did for us this year—it was truly remarkable!”

The thunder rolls again

For the first time since 2019, the Thunder on the Prairies event let loose with a massive roar this past month.

This popular modified truck and tractor pull event at Odessa, SK, near Regina, was staged on July 8 and 9—and for the fourth time, BOSS Lubricants was in pit row as an event sponsor.

A helping hand for struggling families

In Calgary, the First Alliance Church organizes a free oil change day to help people and families who are struggling to make ends meet, and need help maintaining their vehicle.

Twice a year, BOSS donates 10W30 motor oil for these community events. This past spring, a total of 52 vehicles were serviced using BOSS-donated motor oil. At the August 2021 event, 55 local families took advantage of the event.

“We are so grateful for sponsors like you. We are now in our 17th year of Oil Change Day . . . and because of your partnership with us, we were able to service the vehicles of local families who would otherwise be unable to afford this simple yet important vehicle tuneup,” says Carter Reimer, Community Engagement Pastor with First Alliance.
