Family owned and operated business has continuously evolved to stay on the industry’s cutting edge

CALGARY, Canada (Jan. 13, 2022)—It started in 1992 as a true family concern—founder Murray Flegel handling sales, wife Arlene doing the accounting, sons Jarrett and Brad filling pails after school and on weekends.

Thirty years later, BOSS Lubricants is a coast-to-coast Canadian success story—one of the country’s largest independent lubricant manufacturers and wholesalers, continuously evolving to meet growing demand.

The BOSS Lubricants story, and the company’s big 30-year milestone, were recently chronicled by Business in Edmonton magazine.

“We are proud to say we’ve been in business for 30 years, but we aren’t done yet. BOSS Lubricants continues to evolve, expand and improve so we can help our customers do the same,” says Murray, the company’s founder and CEO.

As mentioned by Business in Edmonton, company achievements along the way include:

  • Establishing branch locations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Saskatoon, Regina, Brandon and greater Toronto.

  • Achieving ISO-9001:2015 certification in 2017 to further reinforce product quality.

  • Becoming an authorized distributor for Shell Canada’s lubricant line in 2018, and expanding the relationship in 2020 by performing DFOA (Delivery For Own Account) to Shell customers.

  • Expanding storage capacity in 2020 to more than 3.5 million litres of product in more than 100 tanks.

  • Doubling its volume of private labelling activity with OEMs and over the past five years.

  • Remaining active in the community, proudly giving back to the communities that BOSS serves.

“On behalf of the team at BOSS, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our customers for their trust and confidence in us over the years—and for helping us become what we are today,” says Murray.
